MIST Working with Gleason Corp.!

RIT’s Management Information Systems Team has begun working with Gleason Corporation on a project!

Gleason Corporation is a global leader in gearing technologies of many varieties. Recently, the company has called upon MIST to analyze their business needs and work with them regarding the subject of social networking.

Today, we live in a world in which the recent phenomenon of social networking has created a swamp of possibilities and opportunities for businesses. As a result, many businesses are finding that by having a knowledgeable guide, it is much easier to understand and harness these new opportunities. By working with Gleason’s IT department heads and other organizational upper-management, MIST will be developing a presentation that will give Gleason Corporation a better understanding three things:

What social networking is and what its uses are
How social networking can be beneficial to the company
What methods or directions can be taken in pursuing the venture further.

Check back frequently for all the latest updates by MIST on the progression of the project!

Just a quick reminder that there will be NO meeting this week (2/18/2011).

With finals and projects due this week and next, everyone should be focused on those! GOOD LUCK!

This will give us an idea when the best time we can have our MIST meetings for spring quarter!

Once we established when our meeting time Bart will be contacting Gleason to take our involvement with them further and actually get a trip planned to visit them. If you are interested in helping out with this project please email Bart Hicklin at bah3071@rit.edu . He has already had several people step up, but we still need a few more.
