About

The Management Information Systems Team (MIST) is a RIT club comprised of both students and faculty alike. Our club’s mission is to create a community that assists in distinguishing and promoting the identity of MIS. Through guest speakers, events, projects, and discussion, MIST facilitates the development of fundamental skills necessary for students to become successful in the work environment. The best part about MIST is that we have fun while doing all of this!

Meetings are Fridays at 2 pm in the Saunders College of Business, room 1115.
Everyone
is welcome–no matter what major.

“So… what is MIS?”

As an MIS major, or someone that is looking into Management Information Systems, this question is probably all too familiar. If it isn’t, then just wait until you believe that you have an uncanny ability to predict the future when somebody asks what your major is.

So, how do we approach this mundane yet pressing inquiry? The fact is that there is no right or wrong answer. A simple definition would be that “MIS involves the application of digital technologies to support business processes.” While this explanation would suffice, it has not even begun to scratch the surface of neither Management Information Systems nor its dynamics that make MIS graduates some of the most sought after students in the Saunders College of Business.
